A Brief History
In 1867, two Methodist Chapels were built in Stonebroom. Zion which was on this site parallel with the current building, and Bethel which was further down the High Street on the corner of Lower Chapel Street.
The two chapels were united in 1969 and the Zion building was used for worship.
In 1970 a building fund was begun for building a new church at the side of Zion. The new building was opened in 1975. So many attended the opening ceremony that some had to go in the old chapel. In 1993 a building fund was established to raise money to further improve the building by adding rooms, changing the entrance and provide accessibility facilities etc. Work begin in November 1994 and was completed in May 1995. The opening ceremony was in July 1995
